Have any of you upgraded to the OS X Lion? I installed it yesterday, and while I like it, a lot has changed. Anyway, if you have it, what are your impressions?

The first thing that I'll say is that you're going to have fun with the trackpad on your MBP after installing Lion. Scrolling is backwards now. In order to scroll down a page, you now have to 2-finger swipe UP on the trackpad. This is to simulate "pushing the page up" as if it were a piece of paper sitting in front of you. In order to go back a page, you formerly swiped your fingers to the left on your trackpad, but now you swipe them to the right. Little things like that. Those things can, however, be changed back to the Snow Leopard settings in the settings menu.

I would recommend immediately going into "System Preferences" > General and un-check the "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps". If you don't do this, Safari (and everything else) will open to the pages and tabs that you had open when you quit the last session. For example, if you're on "online banking" sites when you quit safari, that's going to be the page you see the next time you start Safari.

The new Mission Control icon in the dock is useful for switching between programs, but it really seems to do the same thing as the F3 button did in Snow Leopard.

Launchpad is pretty cool, although I am so used to just using Spotlight to open specific programs that aren't on the dock. It puts all of your applications in 'iPad'-format display on your screen. (See examples below).

In all, I do like it...and I think that you probably will as well. I was a bit hesitant because I hate digital-only delivery, but I was able to install it on both my MacBook and iMac simultaneously from the AppStore. Here are some screenshots:

That's a deal breaker for quite a few folks.

Funny how if a Windows OS comes out and isn't compatible with some things, people say how much the OS sucks.
But when it's a Mac OS, it's Adobe's fault.

I have Photoshop installed, but I haven't used it since the upgrade. I suck at it anyway, so I doubt I'd notice anything. I do agree with you on your Microsoft point, though. Mine is a Mac household...my girlfriend uses Windows 7 on her laptop, but I have an iMac, macbook, iPhone 4, and iPad. I love the OS, and have always liked Mac better...but I don't really get the blind hatred for MS or the blind love for Apple.

Those are serious issues? Most seem pretty minor. Adobe writes massive buggy code. I use their products daily but they are bloated and archaic. I have no problem blaming them. Especially since developers have had Lion for like 6 months.

The one serious issue that I've encountered since the upgrade is that my wifi keeps dropping after my computer awakens from sleep mode. I either have to restart my computer (a process which IS 10x faster with Lion, but that's not the point), or have it search for wifi networks, click on the one that it says I'm already connected to, and enter my password. Every time. It's a real pain in the ass, especially with torrent applications.

I have no problem blaming Adobe. I assume they had access to Lion when all of the other vendors did. Not sure why there are compatibility issues...unless of course they didn't have access to Lion as early as others did. Apple and Adobe aren't exactly on the best of terms...especially since Jobs has been publicly slamming them. Or maybe Adobe is in no rush to perfect it's product for Macs, out of spite, because of the bad blood.
CS5 has been out for a while now...I find it hard to believe it's just Adobe being lazy. Seems like an extremely poor business decision...especially since their software is primarily run on Macs.
Who knows what happened.

Anyway, it's just funny that when something isn't compatible with a new version of Windows, vendors never seem to get blamed...it's all talk about how the new Windows OS sucks.
Same thing...different scapegoat. Not sure why there is a double standard.

Maybe OSX needs a "compatibility mode" feature like Windows has.

It took them FOREVER to come out with OS X versions of their big software, and then it took them forever to make them all cocoa optimized... and then it took them forever to make them 64 bit. Their flash player on OS X has been complete crap from the beginning. They have been like 3-4 years behind the curve from the last decade.

The bad blood goes back to way before this iOS flash kerfuffle.

Since you seem to be on the same page as me regarding Apple, have you installed Lion? Are you having similar problems?

Apple's official stance is that it's probably the router (of course). However, my router has never dropped on my or my gf's iPhone, PS3, or my gf's Windows 7 laptop...or the iPad. It never dropped on my iMac or macbook prior to installing Lion. Judging by what I have seen online, I'm not the only one with this problem.

I have not installed Lion yet. I've got a lot going on lately and haven't had time to mess with it. I'll get around to it soon, but I'm not in any rush. None of the new features are going to have much of an impact on me anyway.

I have now installed Lion... and... and... zzzzzzz....

Seriously. It's not that it's bad, it's just that none of the new features really mean anything to me on a day-to-day basis. Like seriously, they mean nothing. And I think I like the old exposé better then mission control. I need more time with it.

The install was painless though. Took an hour to download it and 30 minutes to install it. No problems so far.
