I would 'assume' the one year deal means the team believes they will resign Albert too.

However, I now am very worried about what their plans are at SS next year then.

I kinda figured it would be Puma or a shortstop....not both.

Didn't they save 4 mil on the new deal for Carpenter? If so, that savings and his raise = wash. I don't know what The Riot made this year, but if they can keep Furcal for close to that money and let The Riot walk it would be a beautiful thing.

BTW....they actually negotiated a new deal during the season? Without distracting the player? Or the team? Can't be so.

Agreed, but if signing Puma means Furcal walks and Tiot starts.....FAIL.

I don't think Theriot is the backup plan at SS. I'm having my doubts about Furcal being a good plan A too, but he might be the lesser of two evils given the weak SS market this year.
