Actually, Alan Ruck was just shy of age 30 when he wore that jersey and got it wet in the swimming pool etc.glen a richter wrote:A young Alan Ruck is presumably distraught.

Yeah I told a friend that I was really sad, hearing about it today. They said "wasn't he a Wing?" I said Yeah, but he was a great man and the most important person to ever strap on a pair of skates.glen a richter wrote:One thing I find that separates hockey fans from those of some other sports is that, for us, life is ultimately more important than the logo on the sweater. Yeah great stat and very meaningful cause Hartford was in the NHL at that point so you know it's a true number and not some inflated stat as an WHA member. Just think the guy is 52 freaking years old and scoring more goals than some of our 3rd and 4th lines in the league today that are 24 years old and getting paid $4M a year.Toasted Oates wrote:He accomplished so much as a player, but my favorite stat:
With Hartford for the 1979-80 season, he scored 15 goals w/ 26 assists. He turned 52 years old in March of 1980. Just an absolute man's man.

To be fair...some of the 3rd liners today would have torn up the league back then and would likely be hall of famers today.Kerfuffle wrote:Yeah great stat and very meaningful cause Hartford was in the NHL at that point so you know it's a true number and not some inflated stat as an WHA member. Nevertheless, 52 and playing a full contact sport that requires a ton of stamina. No one would be able to do that now.cprice12 wrote:To be fair...some of the 3rd liners today would have torn up the league back then and would likely be hall of famers today.Kerfuffle wrote:Yeah great stat and very meaningful cause Hartford was in the NHL at that point so you know it's a true number and not some inflated stat as an WHA member. I wasn't knocking anyone. Nor did I ever claim that I will be playing in men's leagues at 52. Just telling it like it is.Toasted Oates wrote:Let's see how well you're gettin' around @ 52, big boy.cprice12 wrote:To be fair...some of the 3rd liners today would have torn up the league back then and would likely be hall of famers today.Kerfuffle wrote:Yeah great stat and very meaningful cause Hartford was in the NHL at that point so you know it's a true number and not some inflated stat as an WHA member.
