STANLEY CUP FINAL : Pittsburgh v Nashville

Re: STANLEY CUP FINAL : Pittsburgh v Nashville
Man, this series has had some wild swings back and forth. Hard to tell which team has the advantage when they both just keep alternating between dominance and suckage.

Re: STANLEY CUP FINAL : Pittsburgh v Nashville
Well, there you go. Penguins with back-to-back Cups.
I wouldn't say I'm happy, but I am happier than I would have been if Nashville had won.
About the "early whistle" heard around the world- my opinion is that shit happens. This situation (when a goalie makes a save and the ref blows the whistle to call the play dead) happens all the time. Sometimes the whistle is early, sometimes the whistle is late and you wonder why the refs are letting the other team hack away at the goalie without calling the play dead. Sometimes there is no whistle at all, but "intent to whistle." And everyone has to deal with it. This happens almost every game, and it happens to every team. It's bad luck if the ref blows the whistle when the goalie doesn't have the puck trapped, and it's bad luck when you score a goal but it gets taken away because the ref blew the whistle first or signaled intent to whistle before the puck actually went in. It sucks, yeah, but every team has benefited from an early whistle now and then, and every team has had a goal "taken away" in the same situation. Shit happens, and you have to overcome it.

I'm definitely not. I always want a new team to win it basically every year. Yea it's kinda cool to have the "dynasty" type arguments but I'm a fan of spreading the wealth.gaijin wrote:Well, there you go. Penguins with back-to-back Cups.

Regardless of the cup loss it looks like Nashville got a great shot in the arm when it comes to fan involvement with the Preds. Hope it stays around and the new fans keep with it. It's the best way for the sport to grow here in the states.
Very well said, my thoughts exactly. If you've ever played the game you've had this happen to you on the ice going both ways multiple times. Just one of those things.About the "early whistle" heard around the world- my opinion is that shit happens. As for Sidney Crosby, I know he has his haters out there but he's got to be one of the top 10 to have ever played the game. The accolades at this point are starting to just speak for themselves without additional comment.

Good, now they can go back to deep frying their catfish instead of throwing them on the ice.

All the PPs in the game, including a 5-on-3, and Nashville still didn't score. So what about one whistle? They had their opportunities and failed, opportunities which weren't provided to Pittsburgh, even when a blatant trip resulted in a Penguins player face-planting into the ice.

Pittsburgh now has 5 Cups. Every one of them has been won on the road.

Heard that the other day. For the life long season ticket holders that would've been there that just sucks.Irish Blues wrote:Pittsburgh now has 5 Cups. Every one of them has been won on the road.
Then again your team has won 5 cups so it's kinda hard to feel THAT bad for them haha.
Winning at home has to be the best though obviously.

Dear Penguins franchise,
Thank you for beating "Smashville" and for putting a cherry on top of it all by clinching on the Predators home ice in shut out fashion.
I'll be forever grateful.
You're friend...until next season starts...

As a lifelong New Yorker and hater of the Rangers, what this means to me more than anything is the Pens are now another team with more Cups than the Rangers in significantly less time of existence. Kudos, Pittsburgh... and shove it, Rags fans
