I don't really understand how the NHL draft works, but didn't one of the talking heads before the game say the Blue's did not have a 1st round pick this year? He was talking about making a trade for someone. So no 1st round pick, how could we get Hughes?

The pick is lottery protected, thus if they stink enough the pick can be deferred to next year. I'm no clairvoyant but I can see that the pick will definitely stay with the Blues this year, barring a 20 game win streak that will never happen.
