We've got a lot of ground to make up to even have a chance at getting that #1 pick.

It will get us a better pick and force management to go get some real help in the offseason.
This team is only a few pieces away from not entirely sucking anymore. Those pieces are:
1) A complement for Backes and Stewart so you can roll three legit lines -- This is where I bring up Landeskog because of his scouting report, and he has been cited as one of the most NHL ready players in the draft, along with Nugent-Hopkins.
2) A guy who can score at will -- maybe Tarasenko will be this guy, and it doesn't hurt at all to get Perron back in October.
3) A veteran blueliner who can be had on the cheap (Andrei Markov comes to mind because he is an injury risk, after all)
4) A serviceable backup (In the form of Bishop, I'll chalk up the 6-0 loss to lack of experience)

As I see it, 2 of those 4 pieces are already in the organization, 1 can easily be had as a FA, and the other is dependent on this team sucking a big fat juicy nut the rest of the season. So, I say go for it. Let's go Washington!
All good thoughts... But apparently the ownership doesn't have money to invest in the team... At least per the 1120 AM broadcasters. Take what you want from it.

I guess if you're married to a loser you don't respect, then getting hummers from drunk whores is acceptable.

I know. I was all worried that they would get that extra point, but nope. Thank god for our typical 3rd period meltdown.

With this important loss the Blues leapt past Toronto into the 8th spot. The Thrashers are easily within our grasp and if we can really get cold we can hopefully squirm our way down into the top 5. We're only 5 points up on that precious shot at the lotto. We can't do it! I believe in this team!

The Blues played a smart game last night. Another 6-0 blowout out would have the league suspicious that they were sandbagging it. They actually played a little too well at first, but then Jackman made a great play on that 2-on-1. He went down just enough to look like he was trying to block the pass, but still let it through. Perfect.

The 6-0 loss wasn't all bad though, because that gave them the excuse to put Conklin in and guarantee another loss.

Hey, if Atlanta continues to get those blockbuster home attendance games, they'll be pulling ahead of us in no time. I think at this point, it's not all bad to cheer for a draft pick. It'll do us better than barely missing the playoffs again, amirite?

Gotta lose to those below you if you want to be considered a real non-contender.

These 4 point games are HUGE.

We need to have someone start all the GDT's early, to ensure failure.

I'm worried about our young team though, especially with all these call-ups from Peoria. On the one hand you figure their inexperience and lack of talent will contribute to losses. But on the other hand they are hungry and having something to prove, so they may actually try to win. I think we'll miss Brewer's veteran experience during this final stretch more than you'd think. He could've guided these youngsters into a total collapse and a shot at the lottery for the top pick.

Would result in an 18 game win streak and missing the playoffs by 1 point.
