2023 Entry Draft Thread
One day away, what will the Blues do?
BPA at 10 should be the first priority and I'm sure they're still actively shopping at least one of the other two first rounders. Krug really put a wrench in the works but that may be for the better because I still think the whole return from Philly was garbage in/garbage out.
Assuming no trades, which is a ridiculous assumption, the Blues have these:
Round 1 - No. 10, No. 25, No. 29
Round 2 - None
Round 3 - No. 74, No. 76
Round 4 - No. 106
Round 5 - No. 138
Round 6 - No. 170
Round 7 - No. 202
So here's my well thought out, and sure to be wrong just like I am every year, mock draft.
#10: RW Colby Barlow
#25: RD Oliver Bonk
#29: RW Koehn Zimmer
#74: RD Andrew Gibson
#76: G Scott Ratzlaff
#106: C Dominik Petr
#138: LD Kristian Kostadinski
#170: RD Hunter Mayo
#202: LW Arytom Kashtanov

Re: 2023 Entry Draft Thread
#25 Otto Stenberg. I’m good with this first round so far, now use 29 on D

And with what I assume will be their last pick of the 1st round LHD Theo Lindstein.
Couple of Swedes in there, Steener influenced decisions?

Hopefully one of them turns into something good.

I’m having a hard time getting excited about the Lindstein pick now that I had a night to stew it over. Dvorsky, great pick at 10.

Re: 2023 Entry Draft Thread
On the twittersphere there’s a mix of elation and pure unadulterated hatred. I think a lot of people would have been disappointed with anyone not named Bedard and maybe had some delusion that Army would trade every pick to Chicago for the right to draft him.
What they do have right now is a deep pool of youngsters that can be anything from solid NHLers for the Blues or trade pieces to other teams. I still think they would have taken Bonk if he hadn’t got 22 to Philly.
Reading up about Lindstein I’m envisioning a Mikkola type defender definitely not a top pairing guy, Stenberg probably a 3rd liner—definitely not a top line talent at this point.

Hard to really evaluate Lindstein and Stenberg, because both spent significant time playing up. Against same age players, they've been excellent.

Re: 2023 Entry Draft Thread
I’m trusting the scouting department on this one. Again Dvorsky I can see having an impact soon. Stenberg and Lindstein are projects which may work out given proper development. We’ll see what today brings…

From the limited info I found on the 2 third rounders I like these picks.

Re: 2023 Entry Draft Thread
Really liked the Dvorsky pick.
Somewhat concerned some sources I've read said his skating isn't going to be good enough to actually play center and he will ultimately have to be a winger. Hope not.
The other two kids at the end of the 1st were fine. Dpending what scouting reviews you're reading, Army reached a bit on the defenseman
We shall see!
Yea I think a lot of Blues fans were expecting Army to really make a blockbuster (or two!) and utilize those late 1st round picks to do it and were really disappointed when it didn't happen. *shrug*
He's been trying in the last few days, it just didn't work. We might be stuck with this D group and just hope they improve.
