You mean the post season pressure of knowing you'll be blamed for losing no matter how well you play and how poorly the rest of the team plays?

I'm sure Legace and Cujo could share stories.

Maybe you will some time.

I never understood why you think he played so well. He had almost an identical regular season with the Wings as he is having now with the Blues. In fact a little better stats wise with the Wings. Then came the playoffs where he is supposed to step it up and he tanks with a 2.65 GAA and a .889 SAV% allowing 18 goals in 6 games. Thanks Manny.

This year, you Blues fans are creamin in your pants over Manny about all those games he won for you when the rest of the team stunk it up and that has happened many times. Good for him. He also stole some games for the Wings in the Regular Season. In the playoffs, he couldn't get it done, plain and simple, allowing 18 goals in 6 games. He was also given the chance in the first round the year before and couldn't get it done and was pulled in favor of Cujo.

The braintrust of Holland, Nils, Bowman and Babcock obviously took the position that he was not a playoff goalie for the Wings. I wonder why when Mr. Price thinks he played well. Now you have him for a possible playoff goalie. Enjoy.

Bottom line, he wanted to hang himself because he knew he fukked up. He wasn't the sole reason, but he sure as hell didn't play well and he knew it.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I never said "Legace played well". I said he wasn't the primary reason the Wings lost.

With the team that Legace had in front of him, he played good enough for Detroit to win the series, IMO.
But, of course, it's even easier to blame him since he is on another team now.

Why not point the big finger at Datsyuk?
He had 87 pts. during the regular season and led the team in points...BUT he didn't score any goals in the series....none, zip, nada. That's a bit more glaring to me, since you have to score to win.

#1 seeded Detroit only scored 17 goals in the 6 games against the 8th seeded Oilers. To me, that's not good enough to go blaming your goalie for losing the series...it's not like Detroit was scoring 4 and 5 goals a game and losing games 5-4 or 6-5. The offense wasn't good enough to warrant blaming your goaltender, IMO.
Could Legace have been better? Sure. But I wouldn't pin the series loss on him.

Edmonton outplayed the Wings in numerous areas and deserved to win the series.
IMO, it's not as simple as saying "Legace cost us the series against Edmonton".

The Oilers scored 4,4,3,4 goals against in their 4 wins. Yeah, goalie wasn't the problem. Obviously, our standards are different.

Last season, Hasek let in 10 goals against 8th seed. Only scored 18 goals in 6 games. Hmmmm, I thought 17 goals wasn't good enough, or was that extra goal the difference maker?

I think a better case could be made for Cujo in the 2004 Post Season series against the flames. Every game the Flames won was by one point. (two games 1-0) This was, IMO, a more CLASSIC case of "the team let the goalie down". Manny really beat himself up over his last stand for the Wings, I think he knew he let them down. I really like Manny and I'm not one to say "it's the goalies fault". The Wings should have put up better numbers with the talent they brought to the ice. I agree I wouldn't pin the series loss on him, but I would pin MORE of the blame than in past years.

In both the Ducks sweep and the loss to Calgary the following year, Cujo was definitely not the problem. He played lights out in both series and so did Jiggy and Kipper. Thats what is expected of a goaltender in the playoffs, otherwise, you're not going to go far.

In both cases, it was a combination of the Detroit offense not being good enough and the opposing goaltender playing lights out as well, with the offense being the bigger problem.

The only reason you defend Legace is because he is on your team now. It's no secret on here that you're the biggest Kool-aid drinker there is. You fail to see the bad in anything when it has to do with your team. I don't know, maybe that's a good thing.

Actually, if that is true, it is a pretty big secret. And I'm not saying that just to stick up for my fellow Blues-fan. I couldn't care less about your petty "debates". Just decide who's dad has the biggest gun and be done with it.

But truth be told, Curt knows when to critizise his team. Just read the GDT's on here. Plenty of badmouthing the Blues in Curt's post-game thoughts.

I defended Legace during his last playoff series w/ the Wings and after it when everyone blamed him. If you actually watched the games you'd know he wasn't the problem.

That's became your trademark - hasn't it. You're right, you're the only fan in the world that actually watches the games. You arn't watching the action, you're watching for specific patterns, the way a player might skate, the direction of hits, the position of the moon in relation to the color of a players skates. I mean, you're the only one who really gets it. You and only you can have an opinion on a subject, wait, for you, it's not an opinion, it's fact. You're right, he wasn't the problem, I give up. I'll have no more opinions until after I consult with you.
